Cold air intake M air flow sensor problem?

I just installed a cold air intake to my car that is made up off three pieces the piece for the m air flow sensor and a piece for the breather and lastly the cone air filter. what happens when i turn on the car is that my engine shakes and eventually dies. i checked all the connections and hoses every thing is fine and connected nothing is getting pinched. what could cause this problem. The m air flow sensor is just fine cause i put back my stock filter on for now and no problem. please help. thank you
